The Art Room Vivo, 49 Williams Esplanade, Palm Cove QLD 4879 AU
Entries are invited from members for our exhibition Gift from the Sea at Vivo Palm Cove situated on the beachfront overlooking the Coral Sea in tropical north Queensland. More than 8 in 10 Australians live within 50 km of the sea, a coast that has advanced and receded over time and is set to change dramatically again in coming years. Our offshore islands, the Great Barrier Reef, Cape York Peninsula and the very special islands of Zenadh-Kes are gifts from the sea. The sea gives and the sea takes away.
What is your Gift from the Sea? It could be as unremarkable as a piece of pumice stone washed up from an underwater volcano in the Pacific Ocean; delicious as the food on your plate; remote as the recent discovery of 33 million year old sea lily fossils in a dry and dusty riverbed near Exmouth, or as unlikely as the birth of Aphrodite, emerging from the sea as a fully grown woman.
The theme is yours to explore and play with, individually or in collaboration. Make of it what you will, but do something special - make your own Gift from the Sea.
