InkMasters has a broad-based membership, indigenous and non-indigenous, of professional , emerging and new artists. We are a not-for-profit, volunteer organization located in a remote area of northern Australia.
Our aim is to advance the careers of printmakers in North Queensland, Australia and around the world. We also aim to provide access to printmaking and allied arts to artists at all levels; to engage the wider community with this distinctive form of artistic expression; to generate awareness of the print as a primary form of visual art; and to facilitate in the community the social and transformative experience of art.
We are an innovative and dynamic organization with a strong track record. We have produced three biennial multi-event InkFests, the third in 2016 comprised 30 print related events. InkFest includes the large juried international InkMasters Print Exhibition. Prizes are offered. InkFest also delivers the BIG PRINT and other community events such as bus tours to studios, artist’s forums, artists-in-residence and other print related happenings. Additional achievements include mounting two international travelling exhibitions and participating in two others, and delivering twelve exhibitions in Cairns two of which travelled widely in Australia.
InkMasters has participated in international print conferences, hosted several artists-in-residence and delivered many skills-based workshops even though we only obtained our new workshop in 1 July 17. Individual InkMasters exhibit regularly at home and abroad in solo and group shows. While the majority of our activities are self-funded, we are grateful for the backing of private and government entities and individuals who have provided such generous financial and in-kind support since our inception. Our members are to be commended for their continued committment to the organization.
Wherever you are in the world, you are invited to enter the InkMasters Biennial Print Exhibition, and if at all possible, to join us at the next InkFest!
