This workshop will combine two printmaking techniques, the classical relief technique of linocuts with the more painterly approach of monoprints using an acrylic plate. The workshop will start with a demonstration so participants will have a clear idea of the process and possibilities of the techniques. Participants will work on drawing and cutting a lino plate to use as a basis for combining with a monoprint to make a small series of unique-state prints on quality paper. Materials are provided
Laura Castell is a prizewinning artist whose prints are mainly relief (woodcut and linocut) which often include other mediia such as embossing and monoprinting. The human figure and its social environment is a recurrent topic in her work, but she is also very attracted to the beauty of nature, so a combination of these two themes gives her a nice balance.
